CBF: 'Ancelotti leads Brazil from Copa America 2024'

Brazilian Football Federation President Ednaldo confirmed coach Carlo Ancelotti will leave Real Madrid to work with Brazil from Copa America 2024 to the 2026 World Cup.

Ednaldo announced the appointment of coach Fernando Diniz on July 4, but only as an interim, for a period of one year. Because they wait for Ancelotti to end his contract with Real Madrid in the summer of 2023 to sign an official contract with the Italian coach. Ednaldo said the CBF has not signed Ancelotti, but the two sides have reached an oral agreement and he believes the 64-year-old coach will keep his word.

Ancelotti returns to lead Real Madrid in the summer of 2021, signing a three-year contract. He helped Real win a double title in the 2021-2022 season, including the Champions League and La Liga. Last season, they won three titles but the King's Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and European Super Cup. According to CBF, Ancelotti will not renew his contract with Real, so he only guides the team for another season. Out of respect for Real, this coach does not want to publicize the deal with Brazil.

Brazil, after terminating the contract with coach Tite, appointed Ramon Menezes to temporarily replace it. But under Menezes, they played three games, lost two. Coach Diniz took over and took over the coaching job between Fluminense Club and Brazil, until Ancelotti was appointed. "At that time, Ancelotti will determine if he still wants to work with Diniz," added president Ednaldo.

Brazil is struggling when it has been 21 years without winning the World Cup, and the last time they won the Copa America was in 2019. Their goal in the next two major tournaments is to win. If he helps Brazil win the 2026 World Cup, Ancelotti will be the first foreign coach in history to win the tournament.

Ancelotti has experience leading many current Brazilian players such as Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, Casemiro, Eder Militao, Thiago Silva or Richarlison. He has never led a team, but has enjoyed many successes with clubs, including four Champions League titles and winning all five of Europe's top leagues.
