Twitter is renamed to X

Twitter's "blue bird" icon has been replaced with a new logo, while the platform's official account has also been changed to X.

On July 23, Musk conducted a survey on Twitter about changing the default color of the platform from blue to black. 75% of the nearly two million participants agreed with the proposal. He then announced, "We'll be saying goodbye to the Twitter brand and all the bluebirds very soon. If the X logo is good enough to post tonight, we'll roll it out globally tomorrow."

On the morning of 24/7, the US billionaire said "the domain name X.com will point to Twitter.com". He also changed his avatar to a black background and a white X. The official @Twitter account was also renamed X with the same avatar as Musk's account.

Meanwhile, a photo of Twitter headquarters with the X logo also attracted 4 million views after Musk posted about 30 minutes.

Elon Musk posted a photo of Twitter headquarters in San Francisco with the X logo.

On Threads - Meta's new social network, Platformer editor Zoe Schiffer said Musk emailed all Twitter employees about the company becoming X, and said this was the last time he sent an email message with the domain twitter.com.

"It's really rare when you get a second chance - in life or in business - to make the next big impression. Twitter has made a big impression and changed the way we communicate. Now, X will go further," said Linda Yaccarino, Twitter's new CEO, on the platform this morning.

Over the years, fans have pushed Twitter to dream bigger, innovate faster, and unleash the platform's potential, she said. "X will do that and more. There is absolutely no limit to this transformation. This is the platform that powers everything," she said. X will include audio, video, messaging, payments, and a global hub for ideas, goods, services and opportunities.

After acquiring Twitter late last year for $44 billion, Elon Musk changed the company's business name to "X Corp," reflecting his ambition to build a multi-functional super app, similar to China's WeChat.

Meanwhile, Twitter, launched in 2006, said the blue bird logo was the company's "most recognizable asset". "That's why we always protect it at all costs," Twitter's website reads.
